RECIPROCITY AGREEMENT What is a reciprocity agreement? A joint reciprocity is an agreement between two boards/associations that allows a broker and only those agents in that office who wish to join the MLS and pay the fees for that service. Without such an agreement, all agents within the
office are required to join the Association/MLS when the broker joins.
Important information regarding real estate commissions: If you show any property listed the SVAR MLS, you can expect to receive a commission for the amount listed. HOWEVER, if you show a property not listed in the SVAR MLS and your broker IS NOT a member of the MLS is which the listing appears you cannot assume that you will be paid a commission for selling the property. An MLS, by definition, is an offer of compensation to participants. However, that offer does not extend to brokers who are not members of that MLS. In this circumstance, any compensation would need to be negotiated between brokers.
